Radio Legend Derry Brownfield Passes Away

Remembering Derry Brownfield

Derry BrownfieldI just received word that my very good friend Derry Brownfield has passed away. I’m kind of in shock and will update this post when I get more information. I’ve known Derry almost all of my professional career in agricultural communications and am finding it hard to imagine a world without him. This is a photo from a couple years ago when I was enjoying an afternoon with him at his little bit of Heaven on Earth (the cabin).

Wow, this is tough to write and there’s so much I can say about this man. He has been a self described rude, crude, mean-spirited, politically incorrect (many more words too) person and I loved him dearly. We did not ever see eye to eye on everything but we thought a lot a like on enough things to just plain enjoy each others company. Derry Brownfield quotes are legendary and I’m sure most are recorded and remembered by his fans and foes.

Derry was 79 years old and still in the studio and able to saddle and ride a horse. He taught me a lot about life. This fall would be the 20th year for me to deer hunt on his property. We spent many times checking cattle and fence on it too. This photo was provided by Learfield Communications and comes from the time he broadcast from his farm. I’ve got to stop for now. More to come when I learn it.

I thought I’d add the last interview I did with Derry in 2009. I think it gives you a good sense of the Derry Brownfield spirit: Interview with Derry

Reuters adopts Arab terminology when referring to IDF

From: Elder of Tziyon

March 12, 2011

The initial Reuters story on Friday night's slaughter of a family in Itamar uses the terminology used only by Arabs and Israel haters where referring to the IDF:

Only in sites that are virulently anti-Israel is the IDF referred to as the "IOF".

And now we can add Reuters to that list.

Although they changed the text in later versions of the report to "Israeli troops" that initial phraseology shows everything you need to know about Reuters' bias.

IWAKI, Japan – Japan's top government spokesman says a partial meltdown is likely under way at second reactor affected by Friday's massive earthquake.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said Sunday that radiation at the nuclear power plant in Fukushima briefly rose above legal limits, but it has since declined significantly.

Three reactors at the plant lost their cooling functions in the aftermath of quake and tsunami because of a power outage.

Edano said operators released slightly radioactive air from Unit 3 Sunday, while injecting water into it as an effort to reduce pressure and temperature to save the reactor from a possible meltdown.

Still, a partial meltdown in the unit is "highly possible," he told reporters.

"Because it's inside the reactor, we cannot directly check it but we are taking measures on the assumption of the possible partial meltdown," he said.

The Japanese government said radiation emanating from the plant appeared to have decreased after Saturday's blast, which produced a cloud of white smoke that obscured the complex. But the danger was grave enough that officials pumped seawater into the reactor to avoid disaster and moved 170,000 people from the area.

"Evacuations around both affected nuclear plants have begun," the International Atomic Energy Agency said in a statement to Reuters.

Quake Upgraded to 9.1 by Pacific Tsunami Warning Center

Quake moved Japan coast 8 feet, shifted Earth's axis

Images released by NASA show Japan's northeast coast before, left, and after flooding from the quake-induced tsunami.

(CNN) -- The powerful earthquake that unleashed a devastating tsunami Friday appears to have moved the main island of Japan by 8 feet (2.4 meters) and shifted the Earth on its axis.

"At this point, we know that one GPS station moved (8 feet), and we have seen a map from GSI (Geospatial Information Authority) in Japan showing the pattern of shift over a large area is consistent with about that much shift of the land mass," said Kenneth Hudnut, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

Reports from the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in Italy estimated the 8.9-magnitude quake shifted the planet on its axis by nearly 4 inches (10 centimeters).

The temblor, which struck Friday afternoon near the east coast of Japan, killed hundreds of people, caused the formation of 30-foot walls of water that swept across rice fields, engulfed entire towns, dragged houses onto highways, and tossed cars and boats like toys. Some waves reached six miles (10 kilometers) inland in Miyagi Prefecture on Japan's east coast.

The quake was the most powerful to hit the island nation in recorded history and the tsunami it unleashed traveled across the Pacific Ocean, triggering tsunami warnings and alerts for 50 countries and territories as far away as the western coasts of Canada, the U.S. and Chile. The quake triggered more than 160 aftershocks in the first 24 hours -- 141 measuring 5.0-magnitude or more.

The quake occurred as the Earth's crust ruptured along an area about 250 miles (400 kilometers) long by 100 miles (160 kilometers) wide, as tectonic plates slipped more than 18 meters, said Shengzao Chen, a USGS geophysicist.

Japan is located along the Pacific "ring of fire," an area of high seismic and volcanic activity stretching from New Zealand in the South Pacific up through Japan, across to Alaska and down the west coasts of North and South America. The quake was "hundreds of times larger" than the 2010 quake that ravaged Haiti, said Jim Gaherty of the LaMont-Doherty Earth Observatory at Columbia University.

The Japanese quake was of similar strength to the 2004 earthquake in Indonesia that triggered a tsunami that killed over 200,000 people in more than a dozen countries around the Indian Ocean. "The tsunami that it sent out was roughly comparable in terms of size," Gaherty said. "[The 2004 tsunami] happened to hit some regions that were not very prepared for tsunamis ... we didn't really have a very sophisticated tsunami warning system in the Indian Ocean basin at the time so the damage was significantly worse."

The Japanese quake comes just weeks after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Christchurch on February 22, toppling historic buildings and killing more than 150 people. The timeframe of the two quakes have raised questions whether the two incidents are related, but experts say the distance between the two incidents makes that unlikely.

"I would think the connection is very slim," said Prof. Stephan Grilli, ocean engineering professor at the University of Rhode Island.

Texas: New Black Panther Leader Justifies Gang Rape of 11-Year-Old Hispanic Girl…

Disgusting !!! This one comes courtesy of the notorious Quanell X (whose real name is Quanell Ralph Evans), who’s the Al Sharpton/Louis Farrakhan of Houston. He’s a New Black Panther sleazeball.

CLEVELAND, Texas (Fox) — Racial divisions have surfaced in the town of Cleveland, 40 miles north of Houston, ever since last Thanksgiving’s alleged gang rape of an 11-year old Hispanic girl.
Most of the 17 suspects accused of sexually assaulting the preteen girl are black. And on Thursday night, community activist Quanell X hosted a rally there.
With some of the defendants’ parents standing next to him on stage, the activist took up a collection for their legal expenses from the largely African-American crowd.
While a few of those accused have admitted their guilt, he says others are probably innocent.
“She lives in another community,” Quanell X told the gathering. “You mean to tell me the only men that had sex with that girl were black men, locked up in that jail?”
The activist cast blame on the parents of the alleged victim, whom some describe as a willing participant in the sexual activity, at least initially.
He also took to task the elders in Cleveland’s black community for failing to guide the younger generation.

US deploys two nuclear experts to Japan

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission said Saturday it has sent two experts to Japan, where authorities were seeking to calm fears of a reactor meltdown in the aftermath of a massive earthquake.

"We have some of the most expert people in this field in the world working for the NRC and we stand ready to assist in any way possible," commission chairman Gregory Jaczko said in a statement announcing the deployment.

The NRC -- an independent agency mandated by Congress to regulate US commercial nuclear power plants and other nuclear materials -- said the pair were experts in boiling water nuclear reactors and are part of a broader US aid team sent to the disaster zone.

Homeland Security Delays Launch of 'Real ID' – Again

From: Fox News

By Stephen Clark

March 12, 2011

AP
States facing a federal deadline in May to launch a controversial program to tighten security requirements for driver's licenses got another reprieve Friday when the Department of Homeland Security delayed for the third time enactment of the 2005 law by 21 months to January 2013.

Homeland Security officials said the deadline was extended because most states would not be able to meet all the federal requirements of the so-called Real ID Act by May 11, partly because of the economic downturn and uncertainty about congressional action on a proposal to modify the law.

The regulations laid out in the law -- a recommendation of the Sept. 11 commission that investigated the 2001 terror attacks -- creates a national security standard for state-issued identification cards and driver's licenses to be used for federal purposes, like boarding a plane or entering federal buildings such as a courthouse.

The law aims to prevent terrorists from obtaining valid driver's licenses and ID cards. But the Bush administration delayed the program's original May 2008 compliance deadline amid claims that it was an unfunded federal mandate that would cause major disruptions in air travel and trample on Americans' privacy rights. The program is estimated to cost $11 billion over five years.

Soros-Funded Group Pressures Christian Stations to ‘Give Up Glenn Beck for Lent’

Political commentator Glenn Beck at the Time 1...Image via Wikipedia

Some Christians choose to give up candy, soda or coffee for Lent, the period of personal sacrifice in honor of Christ leading up to Easter Sunday. But a liberal online activist group is encouraging two New York Christian radio stations to go further, calling on them to “give up Glenn Beck for Lent.”

Faithful America, a group claiming to be made up of “tens of thousands of citizens motivated by faith,” is pressing Christian broadcast group Salem Communications-owned WMCA-AM and WNYM-AM to drop Beck’s daily radio program from their line-up.

According to the group’s website, their mission is two-fold: “restore community and uphold the common good in America and across the globe.”  In service to these commitments, the group says it works to:
* end poverty and promote economic security for all
* promote peace and restore America’s commitment to human rights and diplomacy
* prevent the catastrophic effects of climate change
* counter hate speech and misinformation in the media pertaining to people of faith
* work for welcoming communities where immigrants and people of all faiths are welcome

Japan Quake Shifted Coast 8 Feet, Tilted Earth's Axis

BERLIN/WASHINGTON -- Japan's strongest earthquake on record that triggered a destructive tsunami appears to have moved the main island by 2.4 metres (8 feet) and shifted the Earth on its axis, scientists said Saturday.

"We know that one GPS station moved (2.4 metres, 8 feet), and we have seen a map from GSI (the Geospatial Information Authority) in Japan showing the pattern of shift over a large area is consistent with about that much shift of the land mass," Kenneth Hudnut, a US Geological Survey geophysicist, told broadcaster CNN.
Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology said according to preliminary results of a study it conducted that Friday's 8.9-magnitude quake shifted the Earth on its rotation axis by nearly 10 centimetres.
This quake's impact on the axis was much greater than that of the 9.1-magnitude Indonesian earthquake in 2004, and probably second only to the Chilean quake of 1960, said the institute's director, Antonio Piersanti, in a statement.
In 2010, scientists from US space agency NASA said the 8.8- magnitude earthquake that struck Chile that February was so strong that it may have shortened the length of a day.

Seizure of 35,000 Bibles in Bahasa Malaysia – another example that Najib is not master of his own house and the hollowness of 1Malaysia?

Is the continued seizure of 35,000 copies of the Bible in Bahasa Malaysia – 30,000 copies in Kuching Port and 5,000 copies in Port Klang – another example that the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri  Najib Razak is not master of his own house and the hollowness of his 1Malaysia policy?

It is three days since the Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) has come out with a statement expressing that it is “greatly disillusioned, fed-up and angered by the repeated detention of Bibles written in our national language, Bahasa Malaysia”.

The CFM Chairman Bishop Ng Boon Hing and its executive committee in a joint statement on Thursday revealed the power of the “Little Napoleons” in the bureaucracy which could even thwart and veto the Prime Minister’s order for the release of the Christian scriptures in Bahasa Malaysia.

Why has there been no action by Najib to ensure that his order to release the 5,000 Bibles in Bahasa Malaysia held in Port Klang since March 2009 are complied with without any more delay or hassle?

Instead, we have a Home Ministry official justifying the seizure of the Bibles in Bahasa Malaysia on the ground that it was based on a Cabinet decision made a quarter of a century ago in 1986.

In New Book Jack Cashill Proves that Bill Ayers Ghost-Wrote Barack Obama’s Memoir

From: NewsReal Blog

Jack Cashill voices the pain of those of us who are doing the journalistic work we once thought was the sole responsibility of CBS’s 60 Minutes. In his newest book, he indicates it is not so easy to balance his efforts to save Western civilization with his concurrent responsibility of bagging leaves. In my case, I have sought to expose President Barack Obama’s intellectual roots as a revolutionary Marxist while addressing my nagging doubts about the necessity of rinsing dishes prior to loading in the dishwasher.  If you understand that neither Cashill or me are kidding about our lives, then you will be thrilled by the tone and fresh insight in Deconstructing Obama: The Life, Loves, and Letters of America’s First Postmodern President.

As an eyewitness to young Obama’s Marxist ideology, I was excited to see Cashill busting up the myths surrounding Obama and replacing them with a more believable story that is a much better fit with accessible evidence.  Cashill’s results are politically significant because Obama’s charisma is dependent on the images in his first book, Dreams from My Father.  Cashill’s new insights about the real Obama should be particularly relevant to the sort of swing voters who tell survey researchers that they do not care for the President’s policies while still liking him as a person.  After reading Cashill’s book, I suspect these swing voters will be disappointed by the titanic gap between Obama’s all-American myth and the cold facts of his real life.

Health: Misleading Data on Breast Implant-Related Cancer Removed from Site

March 12, 2011

Another attempt by mainstream medicine to keep women uninformed about health risks has been stymied.
In February 2011, Public Citizen alerted the FDA that the presidents of two leading plastic surgery organizations – the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) – urged members to inaccurately downplay the significance of recent evidence about the risks of breast implant-related cancer when speaking to female patients during a recent members-only webinar posted on the ASPS and ASAPS websites. Such communications represented a deplorable attempt to trivialize the significance of the findings of increased numbers of cases of a rare form of cancer, called anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), in women with breast implants. Public Citizen called on the FDA to stop this deliberately misleading messaging campaign, the goal of which apparently was to keep women in the dark about the dangers of breast implants so they will continue to ask for them. Homegrown terrorism: the threat of Homeland Security and spy agencies

We should have stormed the streets when TSA was set loose in our airports to assault travelers, but we didn’t. Instead, hundreds of thousands, if not millions of us mewled that TSA was “only trying to keep us safe”.  These assaults have nothing to do with our safety; we are being systematically trained to comply, to submit.  Now, because so many of us did comply, TSA is setting up shop in our train stations and courthouses among other public places and is expanding their assaults on US citizens.

The government has now openly declared war on its own citizens.  Think I’m wrong?

While the globalists at the federal level pretend to be in conflict about spending and the uber scary national debt and deficit spending, the global elite that control the government had no problem borrowing millions upon million of dollars to purchase 500 roving surveillance vans. The Z Backscatter vans range in cost from $729,000 to $825,000  that will invade your person, x-ray you, facially imprint you and scan and record your iris.  You can be walking down a street, attending a sports event, or just sitting in a park or your own home and you can be scanned.  Have you figured out who the government is hunting yet?  Who they are after?  I would advise not leaving your home without very dark and large sunglasses and a big hat to pull down over your face.

And the cost of these 500 police state vans?
  • 500 @ 729,000 each = 364,500,000.  That’s on the low side.
  • 500 @ 825,000 each= 412,500,00 million on the high side.
  • 5 employees per van at an average government wage of 45,000 per year = 112,500,000
The startup costs for unlawfully invading your privacy and person and conducting a warrantless search?  If all the vans were purchased for 729,000 each and you add in just the average labor costs=477,000,000

At 825,000 each plus labor== 525,500,000.

So congress is suggesting that food stamps to the poor be cut along with education, heating assistance and Social Security…….but they can afford these vans?

These costs do not include operating expenses, insurance on the vans and employees or unexpected cost overruns, expenses and other hidden costs associated with violating your constitutional rights.  These costs are just the estimates for this year.  These vans are just one source of the homegrown terrorism activities in our country.

How many of you have seen the ads for the national guard, showing young men in a room surrounded by huge screens sitting at a console that looks like a huge gameboard?  The script on the ad says something to the effect of  “GI Joe is operating a drone for surveillance 651 miles away.  But he drives only 2.1 miles to get to his home.” ( I’m paraphrasing there, of course.)  Then shows the young GI pulling up in the driveway of a very nice looking home and heading for the door.  Did any of you stop to think where the drones were being used?  Who GI Joe was spying on?  I bet a fair number of you immediately thought GI Joe was spying on some terrorist camp in Afghanistan or Iraq, didn’t you?  It couldn’t possibly be that he was spying on Americans…..could it?

The cost of one drone? 30,000 each and the government and many cities are ordering huge numbers of them for use in America.  Wonder who they are spying on?

We have been carefully trained to believe that some boogey man working as a terrorist from some far away place is out to get us.  9/11 cemented this fear in most people’s minds even though the whole government conspiracy theory has been so thoroughly debunked, and no reasonable person could conclude that some madman in a cave with a laptop orchestrated that event.  For you who still cling to the conspiracy theory that Osama Bin Laden, a known CIA asset, was responsible for that attack, never fear.  At any given moment Bin Laden will be resurrected and will convey a threat from his grave and will send a video to Homeland Security to disperse to every news station in the country.  I personally think it is wonderful that Bin Laden’s warm and fuzzy feelings towards what is now known as Homeland Security have extended beyond his death. Even death does not keep Bin Laden from sending greetings whenever Homeland Security is about to expand its police state.  Who knew they were so close?  By the way, the FBI has still never charged Bin Laden with 9/11.  I wonder why?

Apparently the globalists fear of the American people is reaching epic proportions.  We have Fusions Centers, data mining, dna collection, iris scanning, facial imprinting, drones, spy vans, snitches and individual dossiers on every person being assembled with any and all information that can be collected about you whether true or not.  They don’t’ care.  Its true if they say it is and every bit of it is to be used to assemble a criminal case against you should they decide to do so. In a police state we are all felons, as any activity we engage in, can be criminalized at the convenience of the government at any time. And, if they had no intentions of using data they collect about you against you, they wouldn’t be so actively engaged in collecting it.

As if the co-opting of Wal-Mart in the snitch and report campaign wasn’t enough, The Stool Pigeon Protection Act was just introduced by Pete King (R) NY, along with several other neo-con crazies.
:To amend the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to provide immunity for reports of suspected terrorist activity or suspicious behavior and response.:

What this means to those out there with no sense of loyalty or morality is that you can snitch and report without repercussion.  Heck, the worst that can happen to you is the government will publish your name if the pressure on them becomes too great.

Amazing how this piece of police state garbage shows up when 22 million people are out of work and many on the verge of losing their homes.  Thousands of families are living in shelters and we are hemorrhaging jobs to third world countries.  This Stool Pigeon Protection Act, will pay you 1,000 for snitching, reporting, or fabricating a story about one of your neighbors, family members or even someone you never even met.  Doesn’t matter.  It’s the act of training you to snitch and report that is important.

We do have an epidemic of homegrown terrorists and terrorism.  We do have radical groups operating in this country and we need to be wary of them.  Homeland Security represents a clear and present danger to the continuance of the sovereign but united (50) states and the citizens of those states.  Anyone who slaps on a government badge and accepts a paycheck with full knowledge that their job will involve violating your rights and the Constitution of the people of the United States, should be considered a domestic terrorist.  Any agency who is unlawfully and actively spying on, data mining, intimidating or violating your Constitutional rights should be considered a radical extremist group and domestic terrorists.

Claiming that you work for the government is no excuse.  Just following orders is no excuse.  You know what you are doing and you know that it is wrong on many levels.  So while I agree with the idea that there are radical extremist groups and homegrown terrorism, I would argue what that actually entails and where it actually is coming from.

Personally I believe every time we encounter a TSA agent, a roving surveillance van or drone, or just see anything that looks to be coming from government, we should all call in on the tip line and report it, demand our $1000 snitch payment and then go shopping.

But on this weekend’s syndicated “Inside Washington,” longtime NPR correspondent Nina Totenberg offered her own view of the turmoil created by this video footage and she offered a vigorous defense the NPR product.
“I can’t defend the executives, the top executives,” Totenberg said. “And I can’t necessarily even defend the board, but I can defend the product. Preventing a nuclear disaster in Japan
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
  • NEW: A Japanese military unit specializing in radiation contamination is on site
  • An explosion at the Fukushima Daiichi plant buckled walls, a Cabinet official says
  • The explosion at the quake-damaged nuclear plant was not caused by the reactor
  • An effort to use sea water to cool the reactor could take two days, the official says

(CNN) -- People across Japan and the world watched nervously Saturday as crews at a nuclear plant struck by an earthquake, a tsunami and then an explosion in the span of 36 hours resorted to drowning a feverish nuclear reactor in sea water in hopes of preventing a meltdown with potentially catastrophic implications.
An explosion that sent white smoke rising above the Fukushima Daiichi plant Saturday afternoon buckled the walls of a concrete building that surrounded one of the plant's nuclear reactors, but did not damage the reactor itself, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano told reporters.
The explosion was caused, he said, by a failure in a pumping system as workers tried to prevent the reactor's temperature from racing out of control.
While Edano said radiation levels appeared to be falling after the explosion, the government nevertheless ordered an expanded evacuation of the area around the Daiichi plant, as well as a second facility where the cooling system had failed -- the Fukushima Daini plant.
Although government officials painted a hopeful picture, saying crews had begun implementing a backup plan to flood the reactor containment structure with sea water, a nuclear expert said the situation is dire even if it is already under control.

"If this accident stops right now it will already be one of the three worst accidents we have ever had at a nuclear power plant in the history of nuclear power," said Joseph Cirincione, an expert on nuclear materials and president of the U.S.-based Ploughshares Fund, a firm involved in security and peace funding.
If the effort to cool the nuclear fuel inside the reactor fails completely -- a scenario experts who have spoken to CNN say is unlikely -- the resulting release of radiation could cause enormous damage to the plant or release radiation into the atmosphere or water. That could lead to widespread cancer and other health problems, experts say.
