It is the day after the worldwide March Against Monsanto. You went there yesterday hoping to make a change - some sort of difference. So now what are you going to do? Change is not easy, and getting others to open their eyes to the truth is even harder. You took the first step yesterday, now do you continue to climb Mount Everest or do you rest on what was accomplished in the past?
If history is any indication, most of the people that attended any one of yesterday's protests will rest on what happened at those protests. As the old proverb goes, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Yesterday was a single step.
Do you really think that Monsanto, Dow, DuPont and the companies that buy from them their GMO's are really going to roll over and play dead now in the wake of the volumes of people that showed up to all the rally's yesterday? If so, Monsanto has some food for you labeled "organic".
Monsanto was scared that this would wake people up. Some were, but how many more still need to be woke up. Monsanto is not going to give up and play nice just because you or someone else marched yesterday. They are preparing for the historical fact that most of you are satisfied and will do nothing else. If you do nothing else, then congratulations, you have let Monsanto win.
Ye Olde Journalist will continue to tell the truth and report on the evil that Monsanto and their buddies are, as well as the harm their products do to the population. We will not be silent, and neither should you. Your voice began with a roar, do not let it be silenced into a whisper. You are still needed to make a difference.
Here in Springfield, Missouri, I want to say a big thank you to Rhonda Bertelsen, Vicke Kepling, and Crystal McHale for planning, organizing, and working hard to make the March Against Monsanto in Springfield a success. We applaud your hard work and dedication to this cause, and we encourage everyone that can to pitch in and help these women to continue this protest. You can learn how to help them at their facebook page: March Against Monsanto - Springfield MO.
But there is much more you can do if you live in and around Springfield. There is a vote coming in August on whether to allow a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market to be built near downtown Springfield. Many do not know that Wal-Mart partners with Monsanto on various things. Supporting Wal-Mart is supporting Monsanto. So every vote this August for Wal-Mart is a vote for Monsanto. The citizens of Springfield need to have their eyes opened.
Plus, here is still the Monsanto Protection Act that is still the law of this land, making Monsanto above the law. There still is no mandatory GMO labeling in most of this country. The Government is still giing the green light to Monsanto and others to plant and create their GMO foods and animals. As you can see, you can still make a difference. So what are you going to do now?
